Cabulous was conceived and developed in a Best Buy entrepreneurship program in 2008 and spun-out in 2009 to location-based mobile solutions company UpStart Mobile. It is the first in a line of features UpStart Mobile will roll out to aid in personal, on-demand transportation.

In August, 2011, Cabulous 2.0 launched in select American and Canadian cities, as well as locations overseas. Currently, users book over 60,000 rides each month with a driver from one of 23 taxi fleets.
